A Generalized Hyperbolic Metric for Plane Domains
A plane domain Ω with more than one boundary point admits a hyperbolic metric and with respect to this metric, every holomorphic map of Ω into a subdomain X ⊆ Ω is a contraction. In this paper we define a new metric for the image domain X that is greater than or equal to the hyperbolic metric. Like the hyperbolic metric it has the property that any holomorphic map from Ω into X is a contraction...
متن کاملSome Inequalities for the Poincar E Metric of Plane Domains
In this paper, the Poincar e (or hyperbolic) metric and the associated distance are investigated for a plane domain based on the detailed properties of those for the particular domain C n f0; 1g: In particular, another proof of a recent result of Gardiner and Lakic [7] is given with explicit constant. This and some other constants in this paper involve particular values of complete elliptic int...
متن کاملThree Metric Domains of Processes for Bisimulation Three Metric Domains of Processes for Bisimulation
A new metric domain of processes is presented. This domain is located in between two metric process domains introduced by De Bakker and Zucker. The new process domain characterizes the collection of image nite processes. This domain has as advantages over the other process domains that no complications arise in the deenitions of operators like sequential composition and parallel composition, an...
متن کاملPoint-reflections in Metric Plane
We axiomatize the class of groups generated by the pointreflections of a metric plane with a non-Euclidean metric, the structure of which turns out to be very rich compared to the Euclidean metric case, and state an open problem. MSC 2000: 51M05, 51M10, 51F15, 03B30
متن کاملA Proof of the Uniformization Theorem for Arbitrary Plane Domains
We present a simple constructive proof of the Uniformization Theorem which works for plane domains. The proof is a combination of covering space theory and Koebe's constructive proof of the Riemann mapping theorem, and the resulting algorithm can be used to estimate the Poincar6 metric for the domain.
